Letters and Secrets

Every mommy/daddy that works out side the home struggles with the guilt of not being at home with thier child. I am not an exception. Even though I work only 10 days a month, they are 24 hour days. For a while now I have been leaving random notes,"My letter from my special mommy" as she calls them, all around the house for her when I work. I also write one for her every school day and pack it in her lunch box. Even though I can't be there it is my way of letting her know that I love her . 24 hours is a long time for a 4 year old and she loves randomly finding the letters.

As much as she loves finding her special letters, you can imagine my smile when I came home today and found this waiting for me.

I love that little girl "from the worms in the dirt to the moon and back" as she loves to say.

Speaking of letters, guess what we did the other night?

Hmmm...This heart is not just right....

That is better :)

She wrote the letter, addressed the envelope and made me put it in the mailbox. She was tickled to pieces when the mailman took the letter...I wonder how many envelopes the post office receives that look like this?

We are slowly getting things ready for Christmas. I love pulling out decorations that I had as a child. This lady had a cermaic shop (my aunt also had one) and my mom said I was about 2.5 and she told me I could pick out any item I wanted there. This is what I chose....Never mind it was the middle of July when I chose it.

Madeline is all into the letters of her name right now. I found this little ornament and she is in love with it...."Look mommy its my name...M.A.D.E.L.I.N.E"

Laying upside down on the couch is her new way to watch TV. I mean why sit up when it is so much more fun to watch everything upside down as the blood rushes to your head. I wont lie, I tried it. After about 15 seconds I was so dizzy it was worse than being on a sailboat in the middle of the hurricane. So I sit up and my monkey hangs upside down. It works.

I am fixing to start a 48 hour shift so I am going to bond with the little one. Hug and snuggle with your little ones and no matter how bad the day a smile will appear. I promise....

I will leave you with a quote from Madeline "Shhh.......Santa is coming to town, you better be good or you will get a black rock"...

Miss "C"

I had a wonderful opportunity to photograph a sweet young lady for her birthday. I have watched her grow up into the wonderful, caring young lady that she is. I know that she will go very far in life.

Who I am

As the end of the year is fast approaching, I have started thinking what my project for 2012 will be. This year I have almost successfully completed a Project 365. I have enjoyed it and will begin again on January 1st. I have decided that this year I would try Blogging. I have started twice before and got to the part where I had to decide on a name and was stumped. I mean that is a big decision. If the name is lame then people may automatically decide the blog is lame. If the name is overly exciting and fantastic then the pressure of having a blog to live up to the name is overwhelming and tiresome. So as you can see I never got very far. Maybe it was a case of over thinking and a slight bit of fear as the thought of keeping up a blog would be very time consuming or maybe I would be boring. Maybe I just needed to be inspired....I have managed to take a picture every day for over 300 days now, I can do this.

This is my 4 year old daughter, Madeline. She is the sunshine in my life. Her spunk, sass and genuine kindness and sweetness amazes me. She is in K-4 3 days a week and takes gymnastics. She is very much a girly girl but enjoys everything outside also. She tolerates being my model. :)

I am a 35 year old single mommy. Best job I could ever have. Unfortunately it does not pay the bills which is where firefighting comes in. I have been in the fire service for over 13.5 years now. I have been a paid firefighter for over 10 years. I am the first female firefighter the city has had and have worked my way up to being a Lieutenant.I have been able to go on several trips out west to fight wild land fires. Amazing opportunity....I have loved photography all my life but after Madeline was born I really got into it. After doing this 365 I have found out I love it even more. I can not stress how important capturing memories forever is.

So now that all the introductions are out of the way I am glad to embark this new journey and letting you into our life. Till next time here is some sweetness...
