The journey of Motherhood with a side of strawberry picking

Yesterday was Mother's Day. Almost 5 and a half years now that I have been a mommy and that I began the best journey of my life. I have been many things in my life..A daughter, sister, friend, student, firefighter and photographer to name a few. All important journeys in my life. They have made me who I am today. From being there as someone took their last breath to photographing a happy couple on their special day and everything in between, but nothing has compared in the journey of motherhood. There are days when I think I am going to pull out every strand of hair in my head because my coco puffs/chocolate milk loving girl will not try anything that does not start with coco puffs/chocolate milk. Days when she sports a tutu bathing suit, rain boots and enough eyeshadow to make a stripper jealous to the grocery store because some battles are not worth fighting. Days when sometimes I want to look and see if they offer night school for five year olds because the nighttime routine will make you want to check yourself in the nearest physciatric hospital.... Photobucket Photobucket Then there are the snuggles on the couch as you watch Bolt. The standing overation that you give her in the living room as she dances a DWTS routine almost better than the celebrities and their partners. The "You are my special mommy and I love you from the worms in the dirt all the way to Jesus" comments that come when you need it the most. The sweet dimple grins, the unruly blonde curls dancing and her sweet arms wrapped around me in a tight hug make the nutty days disappear and disappear quickly. Growing up I experienced what pure, unconditional love was from my mom but never knew that I would be capeable of it. Until now... Photobucket Sure there are days when I screw up, days I have a meltdown because I stepped on a crayon and it is now ground up on the wood floors. Days when I seriously question if she will be messed up for life, but at the end of the day I am so in love with being a mother that I know my place in life. Photobucket How can you not melt when you go to bed and see this sweet face?? Strawberry picking has been the name of the game the last couple of weeks. We have gone twice. Nothing like going strawberry picking with a five year old. She starts out strong and in deep concentration as she picks the biggest and juciest strawberries on this side of the Mississippi.. Photobucket Photobucket Photobucket Then you realize that perhaps the large bucket is too large for her because everytime you look at her they are going in her belly not her bucket... Photobucket Photobucket Photobucket So the little green basket makes more sense unless you want her to turn into a strawberry. :) Photobucket Photobucket Photobucket Love when she concentrates and her little tongue sticks out.. Photobucket As much as my girl loves lips gloss, she loves tractors just as much. We have found a new lake that is perfect for a quick photo session. Photobucket Photobucket Photobucket I had the best day yesterday. It was raining so we did nothing. Spent the day inside with my sweet girl and the woman who taught me that she will love me no matter what I do, my mom. They both got me the book I have been wanting for a month now. "Bloom" by Kelle Hampton..Go check her out. She lives life in the most colorful, fantastic way she can. http://www.kellehampton.com/ Photobucket I never like to be in front of the camera. I try to once a year get a decent picture for my mom. Here is this years attempt. Photobucket I hope every mother had a wonderful, fantastic and marvalous Mother' Day....Leaving you with my new favorite picture from Easter. Photobucket *Next post will be the rest of the Hawaii pictures I promise :)*
